第28届奥运会于2004年8月13日至29日在希腊首都雅典举行。

中国此次派出了包括407名运动员的代表团参加了除棒球和马术外的其他所有26个大项的比赛，取得了空前出色的战绩，以金牌32枚、奖牌总数63枚的优异成绩一举登上了金牌榜的第二位（其中奖牌总数列第三位），金牌数和奖牌总数两项指标都创下了中国自参加奥运会以来的单届最高纪录。

The 28th Olympics was held from 13th to 29th , August of 2004 in Athens of Greece.

This time, China sent a delegation consisting of 407 athletes who had taken part in 26 big games. They gained unprecedentedly excellent results. With the good results of 32 gold medals and total 63 medals, China ranked 2nd in gold medals and 3rd in total medals. With regard to the number of gold medals and total medals, China has made a highest record since participating in the Olympics.
